A few weeks ago my eldest daughter complained that she had a gum boil. I immediately scheduled a dental appointment to have her checked.
The verdict was that she had a gum infection due to a dying tooth. There were 2 options…tooth extraction or a pulpectomy. Since the tooth involved was not yet permanent, I decided that she shouldn’t be made to endure an extraction. So we went with the pulpectomy which is like a root canal for kids.
Since the tooth was almost entirely dead, there was no pain which made going to the dentist bearable.
Looks harmless? No friggin’ way!! I came this close to hurling after my little girl forced me to ride with her. And she kept turning the steering wheel like there was no tomorrow!! I’d rather ride a roller coaster that flips me upside down than this colorful kiddie ride. But heck, my kid had fun so it was well worth the trauma.

Casinos aren’t the only thing that lure tourists from around the world to come visit Macau.
The island used to be a Portugese colony. Outstanding proof of this can be seen in the old quarters of which Senado Square is most definitely the center.
The plaza is dotted with old buildings and churches. The predominant color of these buildings is bright yellow which blends beautifully with the paved road which has been lovingly retained by the Macanese people.
President Noynoy Aquino or simply PNoy is the Philippine’s main man and ,hopefully, the beacon of light that will lead our country out of the doldrums.
During his State of the Nation address, which I attended, he promised that he would put an end to corruption and will try to instigate reforms. This is, at the very least, what he can do for the adoring public that put him on a pedestal.
I am not going to be a judge on whether I think he can or cannot do what he aims to achieve. I will just hope that he delivers. As he gallantly proclaimed, “Pwede na uling mangarap.” (We can dream again.) I was one of those hoping that the Gods smile down on him and help him fulfill all the dreams he has for the Philippines.

Every weekend our house is immediately transformed into the headquarters of my kids’ play group. As early as 6:00 A.M., the kids in our neighborhood start ringing the doorbell wanting to be let in. It isn’t unusual to have 2 or 3 of our neighbor’s kids join us for breakfast or at least hang around while we take our breakfast.
This photo was taken around 2 years ago. My kids and their 2 neighborhood BFFs were hanging out and watching their pet chick. This was first thing in the morning as you can obviously see that they are still in their pj’s.
I spotted these souvenirs being sold at one of the small antique shops near Senado Square in Macau. I assumed that they were for gambling luck since they were being sold alongside “lucky coins” and “lucky dice”. With Macau being the gambling and casino center of Asia, luck is something you definitely need.
The St. Dominic church or Sto. Domingo church in Macau is one of the many old churches that dot the island. Described as a Filipino baroque church, the edifice is a prominent structure in Macau’s famous Senado Square.
With its beautiful yellow facade, the church stands as a testament to Macau’s catholic history and further enhances the culture of the tiny island.
