Gumamela

This has got to be one of my favorite flowers in the world. The gumamela or hibiscus thrives in tropical locales. Other than its color, I love that it is so easy to propagate. But enough of all the gardener’s talk. I just want to enjoy looking at it for the moment.

Yellow Buildings On a Brick Road

Casinos aren’t the only thing that lure tourists from around the world to come visit Macau.

The island used to be a Portugese colony. Outstanding proof of this can be seen in the old quarters of which Senado Square is most definitely the center.

The plaza is dotted with old buildings and churches. The predominant color of these buildings is bright yellow which blends beautifully with the paved road which has been lovingly retained by the Macanese people.

The Church of Sto. Domingo

The St. Dominic church or Sto. Domingo church in Macau is one of the many old churches that dot the island. Described as a Filipino baroque church, the edifice is a prominent structure in Macau’s famous Senado Square.

With its beautiful yellow facade, the church stands as a testament to Macau’s catholic history and further enhances the culture of the tiny island.
